Accurate Beautiful Convincing

OK, so it’s just a kite at this point, but we’re quite excited about going to interesting places in our neighbourhood when the wind is strong to take some aerial photographs. After all, it’s clearly legal, which you can’t say about some aerial mapping technologies.

We’ve built a kite using the advice of the good people at the Public Lab and have followed their instructions in building a not-so-remote sensing rig using rubber bands, a juice bottle, and a good camera with a constant shutter release function.

Kites Bring Joy

We tested the rig on the field of the local school during a recent fundraising event.

The kite is a Rainbow Delta from Windspeed Kites and we’re grateful to Hearns Hobbies in Melbourne for their advice and assistance.
