A partnership with one of Australia’s leading sustainable transportation planners has kept vW Maps busy with demographic mapping and infrastructure modelling.
The Institute for Sensible Transport is a specialist consultancy that helps the public, private, and educational sectors quantify, anticipate, and develop their transportation infrastructure and policy. For four Australian city councils vW Maps and the Institute recently delved deep into census data to identify where bikeshare users will likely want to pick up or drop off bicycles. The projects were particularly satisfying since they drew on our professional expertise in urban geography, multi-criteria analysis and mapping, and personal experience commuting by bicycle.
The Institute for Sensible Transport has developed an impressive reputation for its Bicycle Share Propensity Index. A paper outlining the Institute’s methodology behind the BSPI will be presented at the 38th Australasian Transport Research Forum, Melbourne, November 16-18 2016.
