VineFinders was the first digital database of vineyard, cellar door and winery locations in Australia, created in 2002, before Google Maps. David Hurburgh visited every wine region recording latitudes and longitudes at the farm gates. This was commercialised by Dick Friend, who expanded the scope and content in the database for
– data provision to Wine Victoria, Wine Tasmania, AWRI, ABS, ATO, WGGA, DPIWE, Hardie Grant (James Halliday titles) & numerous private clients
– the first on-line searchable wine maps in 2008, publicly-available and free from the VineFinders website
Grapes 101, a smartphone App providing details on 170+ grape varieties grown in Australia
Oz Cellar Doors for iPhone & iPad, providing searchable mapping and details on Australia’s 2,600 winery cellar doors.

Numerous collaborations with vW Maps included
Australian Wine Maps
– online applications for wine tourism, industry info and biosecurity
– and more.

If you want to incorporate any such applications as your own web or digital offerings, or create new print or digital solutions, vW Maps expands the pioneering work of Vinefinders, building innovative applications involving wine mapping, 3D modelling, digital cartography, visual representation of the wine industry and so on.
