Mount Gambier wine region

Mount Gambier became Australia’s newest Geographical Indication in December, 2010, a recognition that the region and its wines have a particular identity. We produced this map of Mount Gambier’s vineyards as a supplement to The Wine Map of Australia by Max Allen. At 260,000 hectares or 1,000 square miles, the Mount Gambier region is far bigger than Coonwarra, Padthaway, Wrattonbully, Robe and Mount Benson, the other wine regions of the Limestone Coast.

vW Maps understands the geography of wine in Australia. We have used the wine region data from the national statutory authority, corrected the data, and supplied the same authority with finished maps. Together with our strategic partners, VineFinders, the creators of Australia’s richest database of wineries and vineyards, we can map Australia’s wine production from the national level right down to the vines.
